Using fluidity
I get Ra to hold my hand then I move it on the screen so the motion causes the screen to light up. Cause and effect.

Put our hands in the air
Christine has been doing a lot of tactile activities with things in here box of tricks. She has also been lifting Ra's arms up and down.
Ra also really enjoyed a walk in the rain under her umbrella before morning tea and then a walk in the wind after with Tim. She also really enjoyed going round and round in tight circle in the play ground singing "Ringa Ringa Rosies".

Autumn walk at morning tea
At morning tea we had a walk on a misty day. We said hi to lots of children. Mitchell showed me his soccer ball and I also got to touch a toy dog and I held Jayden's hand, he was wearing a glove made of wool.. Mr Betts let me feel lots of different leaves that have fallen off the trees.

Fluidity
Fluidity is a free app which we are going to try with Ra. The screen reacts to touch and swirls with glittering, shimmering lights. I suspect we will have to put it on a larger screen for it to be more effective and the plan is to try and set up an iPad and try and connect it to a larger screen like that of a computer monitor or a TV so tht Ra can see the cause and effect of her touching the screen.
Setting up an iPod for Ra
I am setting up an iPod so that we can make better use of the blog. The iPod has a camera and access to post this directly to the blog. It can also email so pictures could be sent to Ra's teacher or whanau.
There are millions of Apps out there and I have been exploring the web looking for ones that we may be able to use with Ra so that the iPod is not only a recoding device for her learning journey but also a tool to help her. I will post about the apps we will be using to share Ra journey as well as the apps the we will try and get Ra to use as well.

Welome to the Blog
Welcome to Ra's Journey.
Ra is a student with major barriers to learning which means she has to have a lot of help at school. This blog is to show the sorts of things that she is learning at school. It will show her journey in a way that can be shared with her whanau. To comment you need to have a gmail account. This is a work in progress and an ever changing journey for Ra and us. I hope this blog is helpful. As time goes on hopefully the teachers, assistants and students in Ra's life can contribute to this blog too.
Our goals are getting her to grasp things and pull them towards her. To assist with this we are giving her a variety of objects of varying textures and shapes to giving her lots of tactile experiences.

Ra grasped a tiny branch of a vine by herself.
Ra holds a stick.
Ra put her fingers through the fence.
Today when talking to students at morning tea I explained to some students that we were giving things to Ra to touch and hold. One of the senior boys called Ihia ran off, then came back with a hair band for her to play with.
